Tokyo Shares End Lower On Renewed European Fears, Yen’s Rise

     

    Tokyo stocks fell Thursday, as renewed fears about Europe’s debt situation hurt lenders such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, while a stronger yen hit currency-sensitive exporters such as Nikon and Honda Motor, helping push the Nikkei Stock Average to its third consecutive loss. The Nikkei lost 52.38 points, or 0.5%, to 9767.61, following the prior session’s 2.3% fall, the worst this year. The benchmark has now posted losses in six of the last seven sessions, surrendering 4.8% over the span. (more…)
